What is a customized debit card?

It’s just like our standard Visa® Debit Card except you get to customize it!  You choose the photo or image that you want on the card.  There are image guidelines of course, but as long as your image or photo complies with those basic rules, you can create a debit card that’s unique to you.

 

2. Who's eligible for a customized debit Card?

Those who have a St Mary’s Bank personal checking account with a Visa® debit card issued.
 

3. How do I design my card?

Card customization is easy; there are three simple instructions to follow:

1. Upload the photo you would like to use.

2. Customize the look of your card by enlarging, cropping or rotating.

3. Once you are satisfied with the look of your card, hit the submit button.

 

4. How much does it cost?

There is a $9.95 fee each time we create a card with a new personalized image. (With the exception of an expiring replacement card using the same image).  The fee will be automatically deducted from the checking account linked to your debit card.

 

5. Will my card number or my PIN number change?

No, your card number, your PIN and everything else will remain the same.  Only the appearance of your card would change.

 

6. Does a customized debit card work just like a regular Visa® Debit Card?

Yes, they work exactly the same.

 

7. How many times can the image on my card be changed?

The image can be changed as many times as you would like. There is a $9.95 fee each time we create a new card with your personalized image.

 

8. How does my photo get approved?

Every submitted image is reviewed for compliance with the Image Guidelines. Each image also must follow the Visa® Issuing Guidelines as set by Visa® International. Click here for Image Guidelines.

 

9. What images are not acceptable?

Please see our Image Guidelines for our criteria for acceptable photo submissions. St. Mary’s Bank reserves the right to reject any image we believe violates our Image Guidelines. If an image is rejected, you will be notified by e-mail within two business days. You may submit a new image anytime following your rejection notification.

 

10. What happens when my card expires?

Upon expiration of your card, a new card will be sent with the same image as your most recent card. (If you would like to provide a new image to use on the replacement card, please upload a new image two months in advance of the card’s expiration date, subject to the current fee for each time we create a card with your new personalized image.)

 

11. How will I receive my personalized card?

Your card will be mailed to you via the US Postal Service.

 

12. How long will it take to receive my card?

After your request has been submitted and approved by St Mary’s Bank, you can expect your card to be mailed within 7-10 business days.

 

13. What if my card is lost or stolen?

If your card is lost or stolen, please call us immediately to replace your card. Your new issued card will have the same image as your previous card. To report a lost or stolen debit card, please call 1-888-786-2791 during business hours or 1-603-647-1177 after business hours.

 

14. Will my existing card work until my new customized debit card arrives?

Yes, your existing card will continue to work until you activate your new customized debit card, by following the activation instruction sticker on the new card. Please destroy your old card once the new card is activated.

 

15. Will any financial or personal information be transferred to the design service?

No, we do not transfer or share any of your financial or personal information with the design service.

 

16. How will I know if my image is accepted or rejected?

You will receive an e-mail within two business days, telling you if your image was rejected or approved.

 

17. Do I need special software to design my customized debit card?

In order to process your image, you will need Flash Player 6.0 (or higher).  If you do no already have Flash Player installed, you can download it for free at http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html

 

18. What format does the digital photo need to be in?

The photo needs to be a digital photo in .jpeg or .bmp format. The image needs to be at least 840x840 pixels and at least 50KB (kilobytes) in size, not to exceed 10MB (megabytes).

 

19. How do I convert my photo into a digital photo?

You will need to convert your physical photo into a digital photo. If you take a regular photo to a photo processing facility, they may be able to scan the photo for you and put it on a disk. Remember, the image needs to be saved in either .jpeg or .bmp formats.

 

20. What size does my digital photo need to be?

Please use an image that is at least 840x840 pixels. Our design service provides a tool to re-size your picture to look the way you want it to.

 

21. What can I do to make sure customized debit card turns out as good as possible?

Choose a clear, sharply focused image, preferably taken at a high resolution. You can also use photo editing software to enhance your photo prior to uploading it; however, it is not mandatory.

 

22. What happens if I get an error message after submitting a customized card image?

If an error message appears after the customized card process is complete, please close the browser, and try again.  If the problem persists, contact St. Mary’s Bank at 1-888-786-2791.

 

23. Does St. Mary’s Bank adjust the picture to make it look nicer on the card?

No, St. Mary’s Bank does not adjust the picture in any way.  Please make sure to place the picture exactly where you want it to be and make adjustment in the card designer.  What you see is what you will receive?

 

24. Can I customize my Business Debit card?

No. Business Debit cards can not be customized at this time.

 

25. Can I customize my Health Savings Debit card?

No, Health Savings debit cards can not be customized at this time.
