Posted On 1/31/2007
St. Mary's Bank announced its gift of $1,500 to Neighborhood Housing Services of Greater Nashua. The donation will allow the organization to purchase a video projector and laptop to be used in free educational classes the organization conducts on homeownership, credit counseling, financial fitness, asset management and more.

“As a lending institution, St. Mary's Bank knows the importance of education when it comes to buying a home and managing all the monetary matters that go along with it,” said St. Mary's Bank Director of Community Outreach Tom Champagne. “We applaud Neighborhood Housing Services of Greater Nashua for the free programs they offer to help homebuyers succeed with their financial planning.”

Formed in 2000, Neighborhood Housing Services' mission is to develop and preserve affordable housing and promote the social welfare of residents of Nashua. The organization helps low- and moderate-income families achieve homeownership through affordable housing, it gives people the tools they need to become involved in the solution to their housing needs, and it works to rehabilitate buildings in the Greater Nashua area to provide additional workforce housing for area residents.

“This gift from St. Mary's Bank will allow us to more fully educate potential homebuyers in the Greater Nashua area,” said Mary J. Febonio, Homeownership Director. “Last year, we provided classes to more than 110 people, resulting in 16 new homeowners. We hope to reach even more this year, as our new laptop and projector will enable us to increase and enhance the quality of presentations in our Homeownership, Foreclosure Counseling and Post Purchase Counseling classes. We greatly appreciate St. Mary's help in our endeavors.”
