St. Mary’s Helps Supply New Program at Girls Incorporated of New Hampshire

Posted On 11/26/2007
St. Mary’s Bank recently donated $1,000 to Girls Incorporated of New Hampshire to help the organization purchase supplies for their new evening program. The new program, offered in conjunction with Café Lauren in the Manchester Girls’ Center, gives children the opportunity to get individualized homework assistance, socialize and take part in recreational activities until 8:00 p.m. each night. The donation from St. Mary’s Bank will go toward books, paper, pens, board games, magazines and videos, as well as fitness equipment, balls, hula hoops, jump ropes and other items.

“Thanks to this gift, kids will have the opportunity to join a book club, enter board game competitions and explore specialized programming such as Lego League, Media Literacy and a self defense program called Action for Safety,” says Cathy Duffy, CEO of Girls Inc. “We are very fortune to have several individuals volunteer to come and work with the children, and these supplies will give them the tools to make it a positive experience.”

“St. Mary’s is glad to be able to fund these basic items that most households take for granted,” says Tom Champagne, Director of Community Outreach. “Girls Inc. is doing terrific work for Manchester’s young people and we are proud to support a creative initiative like the evening program.”
