MANCHESTER—September 11, 2008 —St. Mary's Bank recently gave $1,000 to Consumer Credit Counseling Services (CCCS) of New Hampshire and Vermont. The donation will be used to help cover the cost of reprinting the counseling organization’s brochures, which are requested on a weekly basis by other human services and non-profit organizations to distribute to their clients.

“St. Mary’s Bank always has the financial needs of its members in mind when it comes to the products and services we offer,” said Tom Champagne, Director of Community Outreach at St. Mary’s Bank. “We applaud the work CCCS does for those individuals who are seeking ways to weather today’s economic climate. We’re pleased to be able to help them help others gain financial education and stability.”

Founded in 1972, CCCS is a non-profit community-service organization formed to assist individuals having difficulty managing their personal finances. CCCS provides free, confidential and unbiased individual budgeting, money management, credit and debt counseling; housing counseling and reverse mortgage counseling. They also provide educational programming to groups, covering the same topics. In addition, for a small fee, they offer bankruptcy counseling and debt-management programs.

“Having brochures to distribute freely to other organizations helping communities in Southern New Hampshire is a crucial way to reach people in need of financial counseling,” said Sara Varela, Communications and Development Director of CCCS. “With this donation, St. Mary’s Bank will be helping individuals work through their economic difficulties, lay the foundation to avoid future personal money problems and gain the knowledge and skills to contribute to a vibrant and economically sound community. We greatly appreciate their assistance.”
