St. Mary's Bank Donates $1,500 to Neighborhood Housing Services of Greater Nashua

NASHUA—St. Mary’s Bank recently announced its donation of $1,500 to Neighborhood Housing Services of Greater Nashua (NHSGN). This gift will allow the organization to purchase 100 books titled “Realizing the American Dream” for use in its first-time homebuyer course.

“St. Mary’s Bank is pleased to help NHSGN continue their education of potential homebuyers about all the moving parts that go along with buying a new house,” said St. Mary's Bank Director of Community Outreach Tom Champagne. “In today’s market and economy, we especially want people to understand which mortgage products and services will work best for them, and NHSGN is uniquely positioned to do that. We wish them continued success in their endeavors.”

Formed in 2000, Neighborhood Housing Services assists low- and moderate-income families achieve homeownership through affordable housing by giving people the tools they need to become involved in the solution to their housing needs. As part of NHSGN’s homebuyer education program, course topics include Understanding Credit; Working with Real Estate, Insurance, and Closing Agents; Mortgage Options; Home Inspections; Home Repairs; Maintenance and Insurance and Household budgets. Distributed by NeighborWorks America, “Realizing the American Dream” gives a comprehensive analysis of how, why and when individuals should look at buying a house.

“At NHSGN, we see this book as a very useful tool for prospective homeowners to take home with them to use for future reference,” said Bridget Belton-Jette, Executive Director of NHSGN. “This monetary gift from St. Mary’s Bank will provide many people with the educational resources they need to make smart, informed decisions about potential homeownership.
