March 31, 2011—St. Mary’s Bank announced it recently donated $3,470 to New Horizons For New Hampshire, Inc. in Manchester to help fund phase two of an initiative to create a computer-based volunteer and donation kiosk. St. Mary’s donated $3,200 in 2009 to begin implementation of phase one of the project. The system will allow New Horizons to more effectively and efficiently track volunteers and donations, increasing productivity and improving the overall operations of delivering services to the needy. Located at 199 Manchester Street, New Horizons is an adult shelter, food pantry and soup kitchen that provides food and shelter to people in need and offers supportive services to help them achieve self sufficiency.

“Volunteers are an important resource to non-profit organizations like New Horizons,” said Tom Champagne, Director of Community Outreach at St. Mary’s Bank. “St. Mary’s is pleased to help them provide a seamless experience for their volunteers, whose time and efforts is a great gift to the under-served of the Greater Manchester community.”

St. Mary’s donation will specifically help New Horizons enhance its current volunteer kiosk and tracking system by adding touch screen functionality and upgrading to a new software service.

“With previous donations from local businesses like St. Mary’s, we’ve been able to add some wonderful benefits to our system to date,” said Nancy Comai, New Horizons Development Director. “Our volunteer resource was executed for the City of Manchester Chili Festival, we introduced the volunteer system to Families in Transition and the NH Food Bank, and we plan to present the work at Volunteer New Hampshire’s year-end workshop in May. We’re grateful to St. Mary’s Bank for giving us the ability to update our software to a new, more user-friendly and comprehensive system.”
