St. Mary’s donates $10,000 to the New Hampshire Food Bank, CMC’s The Mom’s Place

Manchester, May 7, 2012 -- St. Mary’s Bank has once again partnered with the Monarchs Care Foundation, the charitable arm of the Manchester Monarchs, to support the New Hampshire Food Bank and The Mom’s Place at Catholic Medical Center.  St. Mary’s Bank donated $100 for every goal that the Monarchs scored on their home ice during the 2011-2012 season to these two worthy charities.  At the time of the check presentation, the Monarchs scored 98 goals on home ice, resulting in a total contribution to the New Hampshire Food Bank and to The Mom’s Place from St. Mary’s Bank of $10,000.  Over the last three seasons, St. Mary’s Bank has donated over $49,000 to local charities through the Put Hunger On Ice program.

On Sunday, April 15, during the second intermission of the Monarchs game against the St. John’s IceCaps, Matt Welch, Monarchs Vice President of Sales joined Tom Champagne, Director of Community Outreach from St. Mary’s Bank as he presented checks to Melanie Gosselin, Executive Director of the New Hampshire Food Bank, and Kelly Martin and Sara Bassett, Nurses at The Special Care Nursery at Catholic Medical Center.

The New Hampshire Food Bank serves as the only food bank in the state.  Annually, the Food Bank distributes over 7.8 million pounds of donated food to over 400 food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, day care centers, and senior citizen homes throughout New Hampshire. These organizations in turn provide food to over 130,000 individuals in NH.

The Mom’s Place at Catholic Medical Center is a family-centered birthing program designed especially by and for new moms.  They are dedicated to providing their newborns with a wide range of specialized care, including the state-of-the-art neonatal facility, The Special Care Nursery.

“St. Mary’s is very proud to continue supporting two great New Hampshire organizations through our partnership with the Monarchs” said Tom Champagne, Director of Community Outreach at St. Mary’s bank. “As the only food bank in NH, The New Hampshire Food helped feed over 130,000 NH residents last year.” He notes, “ CMC’s The Mom’s Place is a special birthing program that focuses on the Mom and child to create a special experience.”

“We are proud to continue our partnership with St. Mary’s Bank and help with two great organizations in Monarchs Country,” said Kimberly Mueller, Monarchs Vice President of Public Affairs.  “Our community continuously amazes us with their generosity and thoughtfulness to those in Manchester.”
