St. Mary’s Bank Supports Environmental Conservation
Annual “Go Paperless” campaign generates $1,000 donation for the
Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests

Manchester, NH—June 21, 2012 – St. Mary’s Bank recently made a $1,000 donation to the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests on behalf of members who elected to receive bank statements electronically.  The credit union has donated a total of $4,000 to state environmental organizations since initiating its campaign to support paperless banking four years ago.

“Opting to receive your bank statements electronically instead of via snail mail may seem like a small thing to do, but when enough people do it, it makes a big difference,” said Elizabeth Stodolski, director of marketing at St. Mary’s Bank.  “In addition to benefitting the environment, electronic statements arrive sooner, are more secure, and cost less.  As a credit union, we are able to pass those savings directly on to our members.”  St. Mary’s Bank donated $2 to the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests for each of the first 500 members who made the switch this year.

“It’s clear that St. Mary’s Bank members care about our environment and appreciate the need to conserve natural resources,” said Jane Difley, president/forester of the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests.  “We are grateful for this generous donation and the support of St. Mary’s Bank’s members.”

The Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests is the state’s oldest and largest non-profit land conservation and forestry organization. In order to preserve the quality of life New Hampshire residents know today, the goal of the Forest Society, in partnership with other conservation organizations, private landowners, and government, is to conserve an additional one million acres of the state’s most significant natural lands for trails, parks, farms and forests by 2026.
