St. Mary's Bank Donates to Villa Augustina School
Funds will purchase digital microscopes

MANCHESTER, NH - June 5 2013 -  Students at Villa Augustina School will soon be able to better explore the mysteries of microscopic world, thanks to funding from St. Mary’s Bank.
 
St. Mary’s Bank provided the Goffstown school with $2,100 for the purchase of digital microscopes for the school’s science program.
 
“These digital microscopes will provide students with hands-on access to the tools used by real scientists in their everyday investigations,” said Meoghan Cronin, the school’s Grants Committee chair. “Students will be able to observe such things as micro-organisms with higher resolution than is possible with compound microscopes, allowing for greater understanding of how our world works and providing greater opportunities for in-depth student inquiry.”
 
She added that the accompanying slide sets would allow the school to continue its focus on offering a hands-on science program that is up-to-date, engaging, and academically rigorous. 
 
“These bright young students of today could be the scientists of tomorrow,” said Tom Champagne, St Mary’s Bank Director of Community Outreach. “There is nothing more gratifying than engaging young students in active learning, and we are pleased to be able to support the Villa Augustina in helping students learn more about the world around them.”
