St. Mary’s Bank Gives to Children in Need
Partners with Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston to provide $2,000 donation to St. Peter’s Home

MANCHESTER, NH—January 17, 2012 – St. Mary’s Bank has matched a $1,000 donation from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston, providing a total $2,000 donation to St. Peter’s Home in Manchester.

The non-profit childcare center, located on Kelley Street, provides services to area families, offering care for over 300 children between the ages of six weeks and six years.

As a member of Federal Home Loan Banks (FHLB), St. Mary’s Bank participates in the FHLB of Boston’s Grants for New England Partnerships (GNP) program, which awards grants to eligible member institutions for distribution to the nonprofit organizations of their choice.

Ronald H. Covey, Jr., St. Mary’s Bank President and CEO, said the donation is especially noteworthy, since St. Mary’s Bank and St. Peter’s Home share a common history.

“The nation’s first credit union and St. Peter’s were both founded by Monsignor Pierre Hevey, the pastor of Ste. Marie Parish,” said Covey. “We are especially proud to support a center that provides children with a safe, nurturing environment at an institution that has been tied to St. Mary’s Bank since our earliest days”

Sister Florence Therrien, Director and President of the Board of St. Peter’s, said, “This is a very generous gift, and very unexpected.” The funds will cover the cost of upgrades to computers used by older students, she said.
