Grant from St. Mary’s Bank will Help Provide Home Heating Fuel Assistance to Families in Need

A $1,000 Community Outreach grant from St. Mary’s Bank, the nation’s first credit union, to SHARE Outreach, Inc. of Milford will help provide home heating fuel assistance to area families in need.

SHARE Outreach provides resources to individuals and families living on the margins of poverty. In addition to providing food and clothing, the organization also provides financial support for basic needs such as housing, heat, medical care and transportation, in an effort to keep families together and living independently.

“During the past three years, we’ve provided an average of $32,000 per year in home heating fuel assistance,” said Christine Janson, Executive Director. “Needy individuals often have to choose between food, fuel and rent, when their limited funds run out.”

“As winter approaches, it is critical that we help keep families warm and safe,” said Tom Champagne, St. Mary’s Bank Director of Community Outreach. “Groups like SHARE offer critical services, and we are pleased to be able to support their work.”
