St. Mary’s Bank has been named one of the 2017 “Best Credit Unions to Work For” by Credit Union Journal
and Best Companies Group, a partnership that identifies credit unions across the country that excel in creating quality workplaces for their employees.

Participating credit unions were scored on two elements: an employer benefits and policies questionnaire and an employee engagement and satisfaction survey.
“As the first credit union in the nation, we are honored to be named a top credit union to work for,” explains Pam Roy, Vice President/Director of Human Resources at St. Mary’s Bank. “We are committed to providing work/life balance by offering flexible work arrangements and benefits that employees find meaningful. It is incredibly rewarding to hear that our employees value these benefits and take pride in our culture. This recognition is not possible without the hard work and dedication of our employees.”
What makes St. Mary’s Bank a unique place to work is its commitment to programs that enhance employees’ lives.
- Wellness: On-site yoga, two on-site workout facilities, one-on-one nutritional counseling and seasonal activities such as nature walks and apple picking
- Volunteerism: Award-winning volunteer culture that encourages employees to give more than 2,000 hours yearly, including time during work hours, to causes close to their hearts
- Camaraderie: Annual Family Fun Days that include outings to Fisher Cats baseball games or Canobie Lake Park for employees and their families
- Appreciation: President’s Breakfast for monthly service anniversaries, thank-you gifts upon reaching milestone anniversaries starting at five years, President’s Club for employees with 20 or more years of service
Among the credit unions that participated in the 2017 assessment nationwide, only 45 were named “Best Credit Unions to Work For.” As a not-for-profit financial cooperative, St. Mary’s Bank focuses on providing best-in-market service by putting members first, and that begins by supporting employees to be fulfilled and engaged.
