Top 10 Do’s and Don’ts

  1. Do enable card and online banking notifications for transaction alerts, international limits, etc.
  2. Do use strong passwords/passphrases and enable multi-factor verification (i.e., a secondary code sent to your phone or email).
  3. Do update device operating systems, anti-virus, and browsers.
  4. Do secure your smartphone/tablet with a code to protect contacts and saved website logons.
  5. Do backup important documents to a secure location, such as a well-known cloud provider.
  6. Do shred sensitive documents you don’t need and clean out your purse/wallet of these items.
  7. Don’t click links or open attachments in emails/text messages unless you have confirmed the sender is valid. 
  8. Don’t share card PIN or online banking password with anyone.
  9. Don’t share your social security number unless it’s absolutely necessary.
  10. Don’t accept funds from anyone with instructions to return/forward funds to someone else.
