St. Mary’s Bank Celebrates Employee Volunteer Efforts

Posted On 3/16/2023

On Thursday, March 9, St. Mary’s Bank hosted a breakfast to honor employees who have reached significant volunteering milestones. Four of these employees—Shirley Bhutto, Joyce Kelley, Emma Raymond, and Martin Wendt—each volunteered more than 200 hours, respectively.

“We are very proud of these individuals and all St. Mary’s Bank employees who demonstrated our core philosophy of people helping people, said CEO Ken Senus. “We appreciate their commitment and service to our communities.”

In 2022, 65 St. Mary’s Bank employees volunteered more than 3,150 hours to various organizations, some of which included Habitat for Humanity, the YMCA of Greater Nashua, Families in Transition, The Friendly Kitchen, and others.

One example of the kinds of projects in which St. Mary’s Bank employees were engaged included more than 300 hours volunteered by crochet club members who crocheted items for those in need. Other projects included one employee who mentored and coached a robotics team, while several employees baked cookies for Make-A-Wish.

To aid in these volunteer efforts, St. Mary’s Bank implemented a volunteer time off (VTO) program, which makes it easier for employees to find time to volunteer. “We encourage employees to donate their time during work hours for any volunteer opportunity,” added Senus. “Volunteerism and giving back are values that support our entire operation.”
